Pop-up for a Week: Bil—Boe in Amsterdam

Bil—Boe, pop-up Amsterdam

At the corner of Weteringschans 269, a crisp white interior stretches over two floors. For one week only, Amsterdam-based design house Bil—Boe opens its first physical space: a pop-up design x concept gallery. They usually operate online, curating furniture and pieces in collaboration with independent artists, and creating their own work as well. But this time, you can walk in, have a look — and maybe walk out with collectible for your home or as a thoughtful gift.

Founded by British designer and entrepreneur Ollee Means, Bil—Boe is built on the idea that “luxury is a commitment, not a commodity.” Behind the scenes, he handles production, development and distribution, allowing designers to focus on their work. The result is a catalogue of works that together form a minimalist and connected creative scene.

This selection features pieces by Europe-based makers, ranging from usable forms to sculptural statements. There’s lighting, seating, filing, object paintings, and candleholders — all in limited-batch editions. Materials include aluminium, ceramic, and wood, often refined in detail.

A small hook collection by Anna Zimmermann stands out among the highlights. Hand-bent by Bakalowits artisans in Vienna, these forms can serve as coat hangers, wall pieces or quiet sculptural accents. Also on show: a glassware line Bil—Boe developed in collaboration with Marte Mei, offering carafes and tumblers with soft curves. This week’s presentation is modern and refreshingly free of concept-heavy maximalism. The space feels like a well-curated home.

Names featured include Anna Zimmermann, Elena Giolo, Kalo Rakoto, Sean Alexander Fisher, Bil—Boe, and many others.
