In Focus: Vincent Van Duysen

Zara Home+ by Vincent van Duysen

From high-end architecture to scented candles, Vincent Van Duysen’s design language is universal. Serene, sensory and stripped back. Almost brutalist in spirit. His latest collaboration with Zara Home marks a new chapter in an ongoing dialogue that began in 2022. The pieces extend his aesthetic with softened lines and a tactile presence that feels both modernist and organic.

This Belgian architect is anything but confined to one discipline. From Molteni&C to Serax, from Rinascente Milan to Optô for WonderGlass, Van Duysen moves with ease between architecture, spatial and product design. His essence comes through in both material and scale. Collection 04, the new Zara Home+ collaboration, includes Sofa 02, a modular leather and oak system, and Daybed 02, my personal favourite. Sculptural, functional. A subtle design nod to the iconic modernist daybed, now rightly attributed to both Mies van der Rohe and his collaborator Lilly Reich.

Van Duysen’s signature? An emotional minimalism. Even the accessories carry both universal and personal meaning. One piece, in particular, is a tribute to his dogs. His design approach is refined and commands centre stage in any space. Something I also seek in the way I shape styling and image direction.
