Trend: New Business

FD Persoonlijk, Variété AW25

January’s menswear season already hints at autumn moods and trends. In Pitti, Milan and Paris, designers play with contrasts: technical versus tailored, outdoorsy versus refined. From functional cargo styles to sculpted leather, the modern man’s wardrobe feels freer than ever. For FD Persoonlijk, I trace a couple of defining threads. This is the first.

The business wardrobe takes on softer lines this season, defined by generous silhouettes and a refined colour palette. Shades of brown form the foundation, complemented by deep Bordeaux, blue and grey. Classic wool and cotton fabrics add structure, while accessories highlight the balance between functionality and style. The mood recalls the Neue Sachlichkeit of the 1920s and 1930s. Clear, functional and strong in form, now reinterpreted on the catwalk by designers such as Prada, Kenzo, Auralee and Saint Laurent. The new business suit feels more fluid, less defined by rules. It reflects the shift in how we approach work, confidence and individuality today.
