Fragrance Notes: BDK Parfums Collection Studio

BDK Parfums Collection Studio

As a freelance style editor, I usually think about silhouette, form, tactility and, of course, materials. Silk, leather and sequins are all part of that vocabulary. With Collection Studio, BDK Parfums brings these familiar fashion materials into its fragrance universe. Their texture and character inspire three new scents.

Founded in Paris by David Benedek in 2016, BDK celebrates its tenth anniversary this year with Collection Studio, its fourth fragrance collection. All three absolus de parfum were created by perfumer Jordi Fernández. Stellar Silk reflects the smoothness of silk, with ginger, vanilla, tonka bean and sandalwood. Oud Paradisio draws on leather, combining rose and oud with an unexpected pineapple ice cream accord. Silver Ceremony takes its cue from the shimmer of sequins, with bergamot, cedarwood and pink peppercorn.

The bottles are a real statement, just as much as the fragrances. Cut glass in saturated colours changes with the light. I developed the concept for this image together with photographer Thomas van Schaik.

Three fragrances, three different moods. My favourite? That depends on the energy of the day.
