Prada: Double Take

FD Persoonlijk Variété

For Prada’s Autumn/Winter 2026 womenswear show at Fondazione Prada in Milan, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons achieve considerable variety with just fifteen models. They strut the runway four times, wearing clothes that are removed, rearranged and combined anew. Sixty looks emerge from this concise wardrobe, reflecting on how clothes change character as we dress and change our looks throughout the day.

For FD Persoonlijk, the focus is on look 34. She looks like a superhero in disguise. In films, the studious woman is rarely as well behaved as her wardrobe suggests. The glasses come off, her hair loosens and her adventures begin. Prada brings the two film archetypes together in a single look. Sensible knitwear, sequins, schoolish socks and shocking pink reveal both sides of the character at once.

The colour combination of pink and green makes me think of Bar Luce at Fondazione Prada, Wes Anderson’s café, which I visited in Milan. Its mint green and powder pink offer a softer, mid-century version of the same colour relationship. On the page, the palette moves through silk, wool, cashmere, lipstick and emeralds, with a strict optical frame completing the cinematic character.
